Bishop James welcomes Anti-Racism Taskforce Report
The Bishop of Carlisle has welcomed a report published yesterday by the Archbishops’ Anti-Racism Taskforce.
The Rt Rev James Newcome said: “I warmly endorse the findings published in the report – From Lament To Action - by the Archbishops’ Anti-Racism Taskforce.
“The report makes clear that at the heart of our Christian faith is the knowledge we are all made in the image of God and that in Jesus Christ we are one. That means our differences aren’t simply erased but embraced as we see God’s image reflected in each other.
“Of the proposals tabled in the report, I would particularly welcome the opportunity to work alongside a minority-ethnic colleague from outside our diocese who would act as a ‘reverse mentor’.
“As the report notes it is part of the Church’s missional imperative to reach out to ensure representation of all people. It is with this in mind that I give thanks to all those involved in the preparation of this report and the recommendations listed within it.”
