This is the most often asked question. Christians believe in a God who is with us in our sufferings. 

The central image of our faith is the cross. This reminds us of the suffering and death of Jesus. We believe that in suffering we can know God and his love. However we also recognise suffering as being part of love. 

We can only know grief if we have know how to love in the first place. It is impossible to conceive of a world without pain but in these times we can know most fully the power of love.
