Archbishop to deliver University of Cumbria’s Chaplaincy Annual Lecture
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu is to deliver the 2015 University of Cumbria’s Chaplaincy Lecture, an annual event in which the University, local church and community engage.
The Archbishop is to talk about ‘Firm Foundations for Britain’s Future’ following the recent publication of his book ‘On Rock or Sand’ published by SPCK. The book addresses crucial questions about the moral principles that undergird the way Britain is governed.
University Chaplain Rev Matthew Firth, who recently set up ‘The Way’ a fresh expression of Church in Cumbria, aimed at young adults said: “The Archbishop is the First Chancellor of the University of Cumbria and his passion for the Gospel knows no bounds. He is such an inspirational speaker and tickets for the 2015 chaplaincy lecture are going fast”.
The Archbishop’s book ‘On Rock or Sand’ features contributions from experts in economic, political, social and religious disciplines, including Lord Adonis, Sir Philip Mawer, Oliver O Donovan, Andrew Sentance and Archbishop Justin Welby.
The lecture will be delivered by the Archbishop of York on the evening of Wednesday 11th March 2015 in the Learning Gateway Lecture Theatre at the Carlisle Fusehill Street campus of the University of Cumbria. Drinks will be served at 6.30pm, with the lecture beginning at 7pm.
